APRIL

"Keys to Consistency"

Monday April 12th 5:30 to 6:30 pm

Instructor: Dean Marks/ PGA Certified Pro, Kalamazoo College Women's Golf Coach, U.S. Kids Golf "2008 & 2009 Top 50 Kids Teacher"

Location: Grand Prairie Golf Course, Kalamazoo

Cost: FREE (EWGA Members) / $10 (Non-members)

Program Objective: “Keys to Consistency” is to address pre-swing fundamentals to help women hit more consistent shots. At the end of this program, the student should: •

  • Understand grip positioning and grip pressure
  • Understand good setup and posture
  • Understand alignment of the clubface and her body to the target
  • Understand the importance of a consistent pre-shot routine

"Making Sand a Day at the Beach"

Thursday April 29th 6:00 to 7:00 pm

Instructor: Steven Tyler / PGA, Director of Golf Milham Park GC, Kalamazoo College Men's Golf Coach

Location: Milham Park Golf Course, Kalamazoo

Cost: FREE (EWGA Members)

Program Objective: The objective of “Making Sand a Day at the Beach” is to help students understand how to get the ball out of the bunker and safely in play without the fear associated with being in the bunker. At the end of this program, the student should: •

  • Understand how to hit the ball out of the bunker and keep it safely in play
  • Understand what to do in a greenside bunker
  • Have at least one strategy for what to do in a “less than perfect” lie
 

"Get Golf Ready"

Wednesdays April 21st, 28, May 5, 12, at 6-7pm and May 19 at 6-8 pm

"Strategies for the 1st Tee"

Saturday in May 8th 10:00 - 11:00AM

Program Objective: The objective of “Strategies for the 1st Tee” is to help students learn to overcome the “first tee jitters” and get their round off to a good start. At the end of this program, the student should have learned how to: •

  • Warm up before a round
  • Prepare their mind for the first tee
  • Choose a shot and club for the first tee

"Simple Shots Around the Green"

Saturday in May 15th 10:00 - 11:00AM

Program Objective: Simple Shots Around the Green” is to help students understand the basics of choosing the easiest possible shot around the green. At the end of this program, the student should: •

  • Understand hitting a basic chip shot
  • Understand the results of using different clubs for chipping
  • Understand when to pitch, chip or putt

"Equipment that can work for you"

Thursday in May 20th 6:00 - 7:00PM

Instructor: Tyler Eddy / PGA Pro

Location: Thornapple Creek Golf Course, Kalamazoo

Cost: FREE (EWGA Members)


Program  Objective: To help students understand the basics of choosing clubs that fit them. At the end of this program, the student should understand:

  • The impact shaft flexibility and swing speed have on ball flight
  • The lie angle of the club – what it is and how it can impact ball flight
  • Club length and weight
  • Grips (size & when to regrip clubs)
  • Set makeup, including: - Getting the right set makeup to be able to hit the ball a variety of distances - Choosing the right loft for a driver (or club hit from the tee) - Understand the difference between fairway woods, hybrids and long irons and why they might make different choices - Understand why they might want wedges of different lofts 


JUNE


"Putting Made Simple"

Saturday in June 3rd 6:00 - 7:00PM

Instructor: Nancy Nagle/ PGA Pro

Location: Thornapple Creek Golf Course, Kalamazoo

Cost: FREE (EWGA Members)

Program Objective: “Putting Made Simple” is to help students have a better chance of getting the ball in the hole in 2 putts or less. This program is focused on putting speed and learning how to get the first putt close to the hole in a simple, non-technical way. At the end of this program, the student should:

  • Understand the basics of putting speed
  • Understand the concept of accelerating the putter through impact
  • Understand the basics of reading a green
